The name cuiho probably comes from the Chinese word zi-hao or jiho in Hokkien, which means brand or shop/company name. As far as the author knows, there are several shops manufacturers of and cuiho – cabinets in West Java, such as Goan Jiho, Tjay Jiho and Tian Jiho.
In Jakarta, there is The Soen Ho/Dashun Ho Shop, which is located on Jalan Pintu Besar No. 72. This company produces teak wood furniture in a mixed Victorian and Chinese art nouvean -style with gold trim, especially cabinets, altars and display cabinets. There is also a Sin Siong Bouw shop in Pasar Baru (now called Toko Kompak) which offers teak furniture carved in a mix of Peranakan and European styles.
